Trophy planet of the livestock worlds, Dandi has long been known for its dry plains which have sustained generations of cattle ranchers and their herds.
Almost all beef products can be traced back to a farm on Dandini. These are generationally owned swathes of land, often run by a single-family line and farmed by workers from the nearby towns in the outback. There are also numerous, sizable cities, which take care of outgoing cattle and also the logistics of running one of the biggest livestock operations in the known galaxy. The planet is governed by Dosha, the capitol of the Livestock Worlds, and many companies either have their head offices there or risk paying hefty taxes. However, the link to Dosha is not in bureaucracy alone, but in the darker elements of the criminal underworld. All throughout the livestock worlds, there is an unspoken truth. The Dosho Cartel have their hands in every pot, and they are not to be underestimated. There have been many mysterious disappearances across the planet of those who have challenged the cartel, who often employ rustlers to steal cattle for Cartel owned farms.
The planet itself is dominated by dry, grassy plains. They sweep across the lands, rolling in gentle hills of beige. Here, black horn cattle roam, along with many other creatures both prey and preying. It becomes a rancher’s life to ensure that their cattle can brave both these predators and the elements.
The plains give way to drier deserts, where reddish sands surround towering green cacti. Canyons snake through certain portions of the planet, and blue rivers drain through them until they reach small seas, which are really no more than salty lakes. Out in the desert, strange creatures dwell. Few who live in the desert and its settlements have seen them, though all know of them. It is a fiend that is more alien than animal – primitive but intelligently savage, feasting on carcasses and sometimes tricking travellers into fatal accidents.

Orbiting the planet is a crystal moon, which changes colour depending on its location in the sky and time of year. The Communion has, in recent years, taken an interest in the moon after its outer crust was investigated further. Certain crystals found there are a valuable component in almost all modern spacecraft, and are therefore highly coveted by the corporate worlds found many lightyears away in the Tripoli Arm. The crystals allow for a finer tuning of interspace engines, allowing ships to access higher realms and therefore pass unseen by most other vessels and infrastructure. This also makes the moon a very interesting place for smugglers and other criminals, who want to gain the upper hand in their illicit activities.
Many people have left Dandini in exchange for life on the barren moon, where they can make more money than on the farms planet-side. However, the corporate benefits of mining life are often so good that people find themselves trapped in this new life. Some make it back to Dandini for holiday, but others end up on luxury cruise liners instead. They sail through the stars, much to the ire of those working on Dandini, who pride themselves for remaining loyal to their way of life and would never be able to afford such frivolous luxuries.
In any case, Dandini is under threat, suffering a crisis of identity. The farms are so important to the Communion, but they are simply not sustainable – not with all eyes drawn to the moon, and a shady cartel undercutting just about every aspect of the livestock industry.
