Situated just beyond the borders of the key worlds of influence, the Matrik system is a major stronghold for the XA-Military alliance.
A number of bases exist on the myriad planets of Matrik, however the most notable resides on one of the moons orbiting Matrik One.
This base, simply known as the XA-Military base, sits under the striped gas giant, Matrik One, and is specialised in bringing regular soldiers and XA up to speed with the true nature of foreign affairs – namely, the existence of Elder Space and the rising super power of the Triphate Empire.
Prior to the Fourth Schism, knowledge of Elder Space was a closely guarded secret. In order to keep the general populace in the dark, initiates were held in the system for a span of nine months as they underwent intensive training and orientation. During this period initiates competed to raise their ranks and apply for specialist roles in the military. Depending on what role they signed up for, initiates may have signed their lives entirely to martial service. However, most were sent home after the nine months were up.

Unbeknownst to all initiates, however, is that lying beneath the clouds of Matrik One is the headquarters of the Communion Secret Service – the CSS. This organisation is led by the Xarinthian Alliance’s own secret service – the Nameless Truth.
When soldiers were sent home, their training persisted. The CSS secretly monitored them for a further three months – their every word and action watched and scrutinised.
Should there have been any hint of confidential knowledge escaping from their minds, then they were dealt with, and their contaminated knowledge was swept up before it could spread. More often than not this process was little more than a cruel excuse to drag even more people into working for the CSS.
Soldiers who passed this test returned to Matrik One to receive their new orders.
With the invasion of the Triphate Empire, only a few years after the Sentience War ended, Matrik leads the battle. They had, of course, been planning for it for many years… and whilst their soldiers fight their own kind, there is always an eye looking out to raptid space, watching for danger.
